Hey y’all, welcome to the very first coffee shop review on Mugs with Mads! Today, I’m excited to share my experience at Hank’s Coffee Station in Franklin, TN, a place that has already captured my heart and quickly become my absolute favorite spot. Located at 1411 West Main Street, this charming establishment is a perfect example of the magic that happens when community, history, and a love for coffee come together in an awesome way.

I first heard nothing but great reviews about Hank’s everywhere, from TikTok clips to online recommendations, so my mom and I knew we had to check it out. Before our visit, I spent some time browsing their website and learned about the heartfelt story behind the coffee shop. Hank’s Coffee Station was founded by a young couple who spent a decade dreaming of opening a cozy spot for locals. Their inspiration for the name was their adorable puppy, Hank James. After purchasing an old gas station and transforming it, Hank’s Coffee Station was born. The founders said they feel “honored” to be part of the Franklin community, and it’s easy to see that reflected in every corner of their shop.

To no surprise, this place was PACKED, and I mean PACKED. It took a while to find a spot to park and then when we saw the line at the door, we were thinking we would be here all day. However, this was not the case at all. The line to order took at most 10 minutes and everyone there was so nice and friendly that we began talking to people in line and it went super quick.

The interior has a cozy, Southern charm that feels warm and homey. They had the place filled with antiques and décor honoring its gas station roots. The place was extremely aesthetically pleasing, and I could see why people loved it so much. All of the food was even served on antique southern patterned plates, adding to the overall vibe of the shop. Every element, from the carefully arranged seating to the nostalgic art hanging on the walls, creates a welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home, and ready to relax and drink some coffee.

Though the pastries had already been all sold by the time we arrived, the menu at Hank’s proved to be a unique experience all in its own. With so many yummy options, my mom and I found ourselves indecisive but excited. The woman taking orders at the register was beyond kind and recommended we ordered the “Whipped Ricotta & Seasonal Jam Tartine” and the “Apple Harvest Tartine”. Trusting her recommendations, we decided to order both, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice.

While the physical space itself may be a bit snug considering the crowd, every square inch is used thoughtfully for seating. On that particular day, the cold weather meant that everyone had to be cramped indoors over the outdoor property While I waited for our drinks and food, my mom grabbed a table. About 5 minutes after placing our order, our order was ready.

Not quite knowing what to expect, I was instantly blown away. The presentation was amazing but did not even compare to the taste. My mom had ordered a cappuccino and I had ordered their signature “Salted Whipped Honey Latte”. I am not kidding when I tell you this is the best latte I have ever had. It had extremely beat any expectation I had, and I honestly would not change a single thing about it. It was a 10/10 and so were both the Whipped Ricotta & Seasonal Jam Tartine and the Apple Harvest Tartine, even though they were so beautiful you almost felt bad eating them. My mom also said that it was one of the best cappuccinos she has ever had.

The tartines were equally impressive. The Whipped Ricotta & Seasonal Jam Tartine and the Apple Harvest Tartine were unlike anything you’d typically find in a standard coffee shop. They were innovative and full of fresh, bold flavors that made every bite a new discovery. These dishes spoke volumes about their creativity and commitment to quality at Hank’s.

Aside from the amazing food and drinks, every detail, from the history on its walls to the welcoming energy of the staff and customers, makes Hank’s Coffee Station a true community hub and must try spot. My experience at Hank’s Coffee Station wasn’t just about enjoying a great cup of coffee or tasting delicious food, it was about immersing myself in an environment that celebrates community and a little bit of history. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best adventures can be found in the most unexpected places. Overall, Hank’s coffee shop swept me off my feet, beat all my expectations, and I will 100% be going back soon.

So, if you ever find yourself in Franklin, TN, I highly recommend stopping by Hank’s Coffee Station. Whether you’re in the mood for a perfectly balanced latte, a creative bite to eat, or simply a warm space to relax and connect, Hank’s promises an experience that will leave you with lasting memories, and itching to go back!
