Welcome back coffee lovers, today I have a shop that I am very excited to tell y’all about. In my opinion, Hearts is truly one of the most underrated brunch/coffee spots in Nashville. Hearts is a Australian inspired coffee shop and eatery that is beyond special. While I have been countless amounts of times, I decided to go back with my mom and officially review it and act as if I was a new visitor to the spot.
While parking on 12th Ave South is rough period, hearts does offer paid parking in front of their shop but is limited. There is also a parking garage across the street, but you may be lucky enough to find street parking for free nearby.
Walking into Hearts, I immediately loved the vibe. I went to the 12th South location and the space itself is bright and airy, with a minimalist yet warm aesthetic. They ever have outdoor seating and a walk-up window for a coffee on the go! Hearts is laid back, yet stylish and a perfect place to catch up with a friend, get some work done, or just enjoy a nice morning.
The shop was busy, but not crazy overwhelming, and the staff was super friendly. The hostess told my mom and I it would be a 20-minute wait, but after just five minutes of sitting outside, we were told our table was ready! Hearts has a nice mix of counter seating, large tables, and a few booths.
What makes Hearts so special is that it is not just a great coffee shop it is a full-fledged amazing brunch spot with a unique Australian twist. The menu features classic coffee drinks, cocktails, fresh pastries, and yummy breakfast and lunch options. Everything sounded absolutely amazing, but asking the waitresses’ recommendations, we landed on a cappuccino, a honey cinnamon iced latte, smashed avocado toast, and cold smoked salmon toast. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful and consistently checked on us.
Hearts makes one of my favorite lattes ever. The espresso they use is so flavorful and smooth and pairs perfectly with their local honey they use for the drinks. My mom and I gave both of our drinks a 10/10! Both brunch items we ordered were super unique and extremely flavorful. The smashed avocado toast was elevated and had roasted cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, fresh basil, a poached egg, balsamic, and olive oil. The flavorful toast definitely passed the test and every single element added to the toast was noted. We rated this a 9/10. The cold smoked salmon toast had dill goat cheese, tomato, red onions, capers, everything seasoning, and a poached egg. This was unlike anything I had ever had, and it got rated as a 9/10 as well. On top of the taste, everything was beautifully placed, which made the meal feel even more special. Also, the portion sizing was solid and left you full but not feeling gross.
So, was Hearts worth the visit? 100% yes! If you are in Nashville and looking for a great coffee spot with delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere, Hearts is a must-visit. Whether you are a local or are just passing through, this is the kind of place that makes you want to hang out and just enjoy your time. Next time, I definitely want to try some of their pastry items and maybe even try a new drink, because I have heard nothing but amazing things about all of their signature drinks.
